1.Q |
Tell me
about the first time you remember being thrilled. |
|
1.A |
Age 7 flying
a kite for the first time with my grandparents. I remember feeling
in awe at the powers that existed with which I had no control
over whatsoever, except to work alongside it to make my kite
dance. I have always since had a fascination with the forces
of nature though have never fulfilled it. |
|
|
2.Q |
What’s the slightest thing
to have thrilled you? |
|
2.A |
Taking
chocolates from the box at Christmas when they were supposed
to be kept out of reach, I was only about 7 after all! |
|
|
3.Q |
What’s the most frightening
yet thrilling thing you’ve done? |
|
3.A |
Almost
crashing my car, skidding towards danger but being able to control
the car to safely without thinking about it. I was amazed by
the powers of the human mind being able to automatically counterbalance
the effects of the skid. Scary as hell, would love to do it
again providing I knew I would go unharmed. |
|
|
4.Q |
Tell me
why you’re not completely sensible. |
|
4.A |
A life
without pleasures is a life only half lived. You have to break
from the norm occasionally to stop life becoming dull and mundane.
I guess that on occasions it is also to impress others. |
|
|
5.Q |
What’s
the most uninhibited thing you’ve ever done? |
|
5.A |
Really
cant think what this would be, I’ve never really completely
let myself go. `there are many things I would love to do but
would never dream of doing due to social implications |
|
|
6.Q |
What have
you considered doing for pleasure but were too concerned about
the risks? |
|
6.A |
Streaking
has always sounded fun, though I could never do it due to complexes
about my own body, I think that if I had a different body then
I may do it, but then I wouldn’t be the man I am anyway. |
|

|
7.Q |
Describe
the event in one sentence (there’s time to expand later) |
|
7.A |
Cracking
an egg on my mum’s head |
|
|
8.Q |
Tell me
a bit about yourself around this time. |
|
8.A |
I was probably
about 10 years old, looking to express myself as an individual
though still under the restraints of my parents. |
|
|
9.Q |
List the
sequence of events leading up to your thrill. Try to remember
how you felt at each stage. The smallest detail could be important
(this is your chance to expand). |
|
9.A |
1. Friends
rang to say they were going to the cinema – Excited at
possibility
2. Asked my mum if I could have some money to go the cinema
– Ever hopeful
3. Refused permission and money to go – Anger, it seemed
so unfair
4. Threatened to crack an egg on her head, don’t know
why! – Real adrenaline rush as I had never really back-chatted
before |
|
|
10.Q |
What were
your thoughts and feelings at the precise moment of thrill? |
|
10.A |
Smashed
it on her head – Huge release of emotions at once; anger,
sadness, freedom ,fantastic feeling of achievement. Turned immediately
from a positive rush to a horrible guilt and disbelief at what
I had done in the moment. |
|
|
11.Q |
What did
you do afterwards? |
|
11.A |
Made to
wash it out of her hair – I felt so much guilt but inside
I was proud of my first stand against my mum. |
|
|
12.Q |
What were
the risks? |
|
12.A |
A sore
bottom and a lasting rift between my mother and myself. |
|
|
13.Q |
What did
you imagine other people thought of you during and after the
event? |
|
13.A |
My mum
could not believe I was going through with it. No-one else was
there to witness it though I remember my father being shocked,
angry, but inside quite amused. |
|
|
14.Q |
How often
do you think about the event, and why? |
|
14.A |
It often
comes up when discussing my childhood with friends as it is
a funny topic that is bound to make people laugh when told as
a story. Its only really funny if they know me though as they
have to be able to relate to my current personality, not half
as uninhibited. |
|
|
15.Q |
Some people
probably don’t understand how such a thing can thrill
you; explain it to them. |
|
15.A |
Just try
it. Making a threat and then carrying it out is one the most
emotional rides possible |
|
|
16.Q |
What three
changes could have made the experience better, and why? |
|
16.A |
A bigger
egg, someone else to witness it, being able to go to the cinema
at the end of it. |
|
|
|
|
Is there
anything you want to add? |
